38 Bars Close as BrewDog Enters Administration, 733 Jobs Saved
BrewDog, the popular craft brewery, has gone into administration. The brewery has made the decision after years of financial loss. The US-based company, Tilray, has bought the brewery’s operations in the UK, including 11 pubs, for £33 million. This has saved around 733 jobs. However, 38 bars are being shut down immediately, while almost 500 employees have lost their jobs with almost no prior warning. The most shocking part is that the 200,000 investors who invested in the “Equity for Punks” scheme are not getting any returns on their shares, meaning they are now worthless. The brewery has fallen far from its “rebel” status.
